The Desert Museum

So we have awesome friends. Rick and Diana got us a family membership for the Desert Museum for Christmas! I am so stoked to use this all year. They have tons of cool events and it's a great way to get outside and get some exercise too. We went for the first time as a family in early January. Ari really liked it. He didn't care about the raptor show, but he loved seeing all of the other animals. On the day we went it was the first day the new aquarium was open; unfortunately all the tours were booked up, but no matter, because oh yeah we have a membership! We will definitely check it out next time.

Avery did pretty well too, although in this particular photo he was determined to escape the stroller.









And Ari's first ever face painting experience. A seahorse in his favorite color. He sat so still, he did great! Unfortunately he smudged it within half an hour, LOL. But no matter, it won't be his last I'm sure.

11 Months

A lot has happened between 10 and 11 months old! He started walking, got in his first five teeth in about three weeks, and is starting to sign a lot more. He started signing milk more consistently then learned "more" and "dog." He babbles, dadada, bababa, mamama. It is starting to sound more intentional, the da sound is used for dad and dog, ba is for ball, mamama is for mama and milk. He has started eating a lot more solid food. Lately he has been fond of yogurt, blueberries, and some homemade applesauce teething biscuits I made. He also tries to climb everything and likes to climb into the toy bucket and sit amongst the toys. He has developed his cheesy grin and can also cause quite a ruckus if he's not getting to do something he wants to do. He still gets into everything, I have to chase him a ton and things like library trips are interesting because he doesn't want to be worn or be in a stroller at all.... But when I put him down he tries to empty all the shelves of all the books lol.

10 Months

So little man was seriously thinking about walking as he turned ten months. He would take one or two steps between pieces of furniture. He had his one tooth and the second one was coming fast. He started playing peekaboo which is so cute. He also learned to wave. He started to dance to music, which consists of bouncing on his knees and waving his arms. He babbled a lot and also discovered his high pitched shriek/squeal. He still signed milk which he has done for months but no other signs yet.... But I haven't been very consistent trying to teach him new ones.

He is so happy and easy going. He loves to explore, with an especial affinity for trash cans and toilets lol. He puts crap in his mouth aalllll day long which is so irritating... Totally normal but Ari never really did that. Avery really likes to eat any bits of paper or cardboard especially. He also tasted some grass and dirt at the park. Yet he still wasn't interested in more than half of the solid food that I offer, ha!

Nine Months of Avery

I am behind here! Not sure if I can even remember everything I should write about for Avery at nine months but I'll give it a shot. He started standing up from sitting by himself (without help of furniture etc). He remained a picky eater. His crawling reached lightning speed. Mostly happy, easy going little man! We started looking for houses around when he turned 9 months and he was such a trooper, tagging along and napping along the way with minimal fussing, even with lots of driving. (So different from his brother that haaated the car so much!)
